“Students from abroad come to Wrocław”
210 participants in the project “Now Wroclaw” – students from Ukraine, Russia, Belarus and Uzbekistan – arrived in the capital of Lower Silesia. Today they started living and learning in a new country. Here they see their chance for the future. In Wrocław, from year to year there are more and more international students.
During a special course new students improve knowledge and better understand polish language. To take part in this ceremony commencing the course, Daria from Lviv had to fill in a lot of documents and do a Skype conversation to convince committee.
It was not difficult, because the girl is fluent in polish.
I fell in love with Poland and polish language. Here, there are more opportunities, there is no corruption – she explains.
“I really like my country, but now in Ukraine there is a difficult situation with universities, you have to pay for everything” – adds her friend Yuliya. Both girl hold their future with Poland. It’s like most of the participants of the project “Now Wroclaw”. The project aims to encourage residents of Eastern Europe to study in Wroclaw and Lower Silesia.
During the six previous editions of the science program began 450 foreigners. Approximately 80% of our students remain in Poland, the rest coming home or moving out into the world. 60% of students do not pay tuition, others have to shell out several thousand euros – said project coordinator Alla Witwicka-Dudek. In Ukraine, the price for the studio is similar.
In Wroclaw foreign students who come not only in the framework of the project “Now Wroclaw,” is more and more. Almost doubled compared to last year – says Margaret Wanke-Jakubowska. Most scholars coming from Ukraine, Belarus, Spain and Portugal. Frequently foreigners can be found on the University of Wroclaw. Then, in the order there are: Medical University, Wroclaw University of Technology and Economics. Universities are trying to attract foreign students because of Polish candidates increasingly difficult.
